The National Teaching Council (NTC) requires fresh candidates to complete indexing before registering for the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE).
Below are the steps to successfully complete both processes.

Before beginning registration, candidates must confirm that their training institution has uploaded their details onto the indexing portal.
- Check your indexing status: Visit https://indexing.ntc.gov.gh/ to verify whether your data has been uploaded by your institution.
- Pay the indexing fee: GH₵50 payment can be made at any Prudential Bank branch or via mobile money using short code *772*51#.
- Receive indexing number: After payment, you will receive an SMS with your indexing number, along with further instructions.
- Verify details: Log in to https://indexing.ntc.gov.gh/ using your indexing number to confirm your data.
- Use indexing number for GTLE registration: Once verified, use your indexing number to proceed with GTLE registration.
GTLE Registration
Once indexing is complete, candidates must register for the GTLE following these steps:
- Purchase an e-voucher:
- Dial short code *772*51# and follow the prompts for mobile payment.
- Alternatively, buy the voucher at any Prudential Bank branch and collect your Serial Number and PIN.
- Log in to the registration portal: Visit https://exams.ntc.gov.gh/
- Enter e-voucher details: Input your Serial Number and PIN from the voucher.
- Fill in personal details: Provide accurate information, including educational background and indexing number.
- Upload passport-size photo: Ensure your image is less than 250KB, with a white background.
- Review details: Double-check all inputs before submission, as changes cannot be made after registration.
- Print registration summary: Save a copy of your registration confirmation for future reference.
Take Note
- Registration deadline: July 7, 2025—no extensions will be granted.
- Candidates should not use the same phone number to buy multiple vouchers, as this may cause registration errors.
- Dress code: Formal or professional attire is required during the exam.
- No refunds for payments made by ineligible candidates.
Exam Dates
The GTLE 1 will be conducted from July 18 to July 20, 2025.
Exam Structure
Candidates will take three papers as part of the licensure examination:
Professional Knowledge – Covers numeracy, literacy, and essential professional skills required for teaching.
Specialism Pedagogy – Tailored to the candidate’s specialization level, including Early Grade, Primary, JHS, SHS, or TVET education.
Subject Knowledge – Based on either multiple subjects (for Early Grade/Primary teachers) or a single subject (for JHS, SHS, and TVET teachers).
