The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the release of the long-awaited feeding grant for Special Needs Schools, signaling a renewed government commitment to inclusive education nationwide.
In a press statement dated June 25, 2025, the GES revealed that a total of GHC 8,989,866.00 has been disbursed to cover the nutritional needs of learners with disabilities across all designated institutions.
“This disbursement demonstrates the Government’s continued commitment to inclusive education and the wellbeing of learners with special needs,” GES affirmed in the release.
In the statement,GES lauded all heads, staff, and learners in Special Schools for their patience, resilience, and dedication during the period leading up to this payment.
“We acknowledge and appreciate the unwavering commitment of our special education stakeholders,” the Service stated.
GES also extended its gratitude to the Government for prioritizing Special Needs Education in its expenditure portfolio.
“Management of GES acknowledges and appreciates the patience, resilience, and dedication of all heads, staff, and learners of Special Schools. We also commend the Government for prioritising Special Needs Education.”
Reiterating its role as a collaborative force for educational equity, GES emphasized its intention to work closely with all partners in the sector.
“We remain committed to collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure equitable and quality education for every learner, regardless of ability,” the statement concluded.
